3/9 Wednesday Lunch Time Prayer Guide

As you think about this extended time, think of this like you’re spending time with a good friend and you have a lot to talk about.  Use this guide to set the agenda and to keep you on track.  Don’t even worry about how long you pray, but focus on sharing your heart with God.

Fasting Tip

Fasting is about breaking the routines that define us.  So break your lunch time routine.  Go to a park or sit in your car or meet together with some friends to pray with them.  Make this lunch time a break from your routine and something specific and special.

Scripture Focus

As you read Scripture, let it spur prayers (Today’s Scripture comes from the Kingdom Come small group study guide reading plan)

Read Luke 1:8-17 –  Pray for God to make us a people prepared for the Lord.  Pray for the Summit as Easter approaches to be cleansed from sin and complacency and for us to believe and be revived.

Read Luke 2:8-18 – Pray for God to amaze us again.  Let us see His glory and in our amazement, be driven to proclaim and tell others about the King who has come.

Praise & Thank God-  Praise God for one specific attribute (His  mercy, love, power, etc.).  Thank God for one specific thing in your life (your health, family, job, friends, etc.).  Tell Him how much it means to you.

Prayer for the Summit

Pray for each of the following:

-This month-long prayer focus.  Pray that we would become a body of peopole that pray more frequently and effectively.

The Prayer of Faith, James 4:13-16

Is anyone among you in trouble?  Let them pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let them sing songs of praise.  Is anyone among you sick?  Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;  the Lord will raise them up.  If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

-Pray for the prayer gatherings at all of our campuses tonight:  Brier Creek, West Club, North Durham, North Raleigh, and Summit en Espanol.

-Summit Leadership:  pray by name for Pastor JD, the staff leadership at your campus, and other Summit pastors and staff that you know personally.

Praying for the Gospel to Advance

Pray for people you know personally to understand and respond to the Gospel.

Write down one to three specific people you will pray for over the next four weeks.

Praying for Gospel Effectiveness, Colossians 4:2-6

Devote yourselves to prayer;  being watchful and thankful.  And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.  Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.  Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders;  make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Praying for the Nations

Persecution of Christians is on the rise worldwide.  On Feb. 16, the only Christian member of the Cabinet in Pakistand was assassinated.  Pray for the people of Pakistan to be drawn to the truth of the Gospel and pray for the believers of Pakistan to be filled with the Spirit of God and to be bold witnesses in the face of danger.  For more information and an extended prayer guide for Pakistan, go to today’s Equip Blog:
