There are few things in this life that I enjoy more than live music.  Even Bluegrass is invigorating in person.  That said, I think this Friday’s CD release concert (click here for details) is going to blow the roof off our Brier Creek warehouse of a worship center.  I’ve been hearing Sam and the guys around the office practicing, and I can’t wait for Friday.

Also, I’m really excited about what this means for our church.  Let’s face it, God is moving in some incredible ways at our church and it’s about time we created some of our own worship music to commemorate what he is specifically teaching us as a local body.  Friday will mark the beginning of Summit singing “new songs” to the Lord.  Jonathan Welch, the PM worship pastor, has this to say about writing our own worship music.  Here’s some of Welch’s take:

“This is the power of singing songs written out of what God is doing HERE at Summit:  it’s one thing to sing songs that resonate from what God is teaching Chris Tomlin or Hillsong, but songs written out of what God is doing here at Summit resonate with our people in an entirely different way… In a way that brings God more glory.”

God has also blessed our congregation with talented musicians who really know how to move an audience to worship.  I’ve been privileged to get to know our worship leaders for the past 3 years, and they are men and women who have deep relationships with Christ.  What they produce will have a musical and theological sophistication that will be refreshing and inspiring.

Come party with us Friday night!!
