Financial Peace and the Gospel2

Here’s a video promotional from the Financial Peace guys. Doesn’t it look like something that our guys would shoot? Keep reading below for the wisdom from one of our sages at Summit- Eric Chetwood.
Below are the reflections of one of our church elders- Eric Chetwood, on why he’s involved with Financial Peace University:
Here at the Summit, we try to make the gospel of Jesus Christ the heartbeat of everything that we do. The fact that Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead has far reaching implications for every facet of our lives. We are not our own; we were bought at a price (1 Cor. 6.19-20). We try to love others extravagantly, because God loved us extravagantly. We have a heart for the poor and the outcast, because God’s heart broke for us when we were poor and outcast. We try to give of our resources generously, because Jesus exhausted every resource at his disposal to save our lives and to bring us back into fellowship with the God of the Universe.
Marinating on the gospel changes our perspective about…really everything. It helps us to see people and possessions the way God does. We tend to use people as a means to accumulate possessions. God wants us to use our possessions as a means to reach people. But how do we put ourselves in a position to do that? What if we are out of work? What if we have accumulated debts? What if we don’t feel confident in our knowledge of personal finance? Then we, as a church, want to help you.
We want to equip and empower you with a biblical understanding of personal finance and stewardship. To accomplish this, we will be using a 13 week curriculum by Dave Ramsey called Financial Peace University. It is a life-changing program that teaches you how to make wise decisions with your money. Each of the 13 lessons deal with a different topic that will change the way you think about personal finance. Dave teaches about how to save money, live on a budget, communicate about money, eliminate debt, and experience the joy of giving.
We will be hosting two classes this semester; one at the Brier Creek campus on Tuesday nights and one at the Cole Mill campus on Thursday nights. These classes start right after Labor Day, so make plans to attend now! To enroll or to get more information, please go to: http://www.summitrdu.com/fpu
