I spent some time reading and praying through John 9 this morning, and the Lord used this passage to challenge my heart as we head into our annual Easter weekend…

First, I can’t get over the blind man’s encounter with Jesus—the hands of our Savior eternally transformed his life.  The community may debate the validity of the miracle, but the blind man’s response is genuine evidence of an gospel-centered change.  John 9:38 tells us,  Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. Our response today (in the midst of our Believe sermon series and the Believe Project) should be this worshipful confession of our belief in the power of our great God.

Another thing about this chapter that’s overwhelmingly clear… When Jesus touched the blind man’s life, it rocked the whole town! Everyone is talking about this guy Jesus and how He miraculously healed one man’s birth defect.  Neighbors and townspeople inquired about the blind man’s transformation (vv. 5-12), and the disciples probably watched the entire scene (v. 2).  Even the spiritually devout (v. 18) and their religious leaders (v. 13) join in the seemingly citywide conversation.

Let’s pray that Jesus would transform lives this weekend in such a way that our communities would notice and be exposed to the life-changing power of the gospel. Just like the blind man in John 9 needed sight, the spiritually blind in RDU desperately need to see the glory of Jesus.

Will you join us in praying for the lost and needy in your communities, asking the Lord to give you opportunities to invite them to one of our 19 worship gatherings this weekend?  As a church, we’re setting aside one day this week to fast and pray, asking God to use us to reach the lost in RDU and around the globe.  You pick the day that best suits your schedule, but the Summit Church family will be praying every day this week for our God to do immeasurably more than what we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20)!  Sign up and download your prayer guide today!

I’m excited to watch God answer our prayers and see lives transformed with the gospel this Easter weekend!
