This weekend will mark the end of the “Search for a King” series. The sermon will come from 1 Chronicles 29, what JD calls the “other” literary ending to David’s life. In this story, David and the Israelites take up an offering to build the Temple. David wanted to build the Temple, but the Lord said that David’s offspring would be the one to build it. So, in one of his last acts as King, David takes the offering.
The Israelites are joyful and exuberant with praise as they give the offering. Paul, in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9 paints exactly this picture of a church who is generous. The small groups will use this as our text in the coming week. Find the study guide attached below and enjoy:
