Pray for Colombia

“You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16

Pray:

-Praise God for His grace displayed all over Colombia.  In the past few years, there has been a significant decrease in murder, kidnapping, and crime rates and an increase in stability.  One maximum-security Colombian prison often called “hell on earth” has seen a movement of hardened criminals turning to Christ and resulting in regular prayer, fasting, and evangelism.  The evangelical church has grown from 0.6% in 1960 to 7.5% today.

- Despite improvement, Colombia remains a dangerous nation with high levels of violence, kidnapping and assassinations.  Leftist guerillas and right-wing paramilitaries run rampant.  Pray that the peace and light of Christ will be displayed to this country.  Ask that leaders would be strong in opposing violence and wise in moving the nation forward.

-Pray that God will strengthen His people to preach the Gospel among communities such as the thousands of street children in the cities, college students searching for truth, the upper class hungering for power, and the Muslim population numbering around 35,000.
