Pray for the Czech Republic

“For everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”  Romans 10:13

Population:  10,410,786

Capital:  Prague

People:  Slavic 96.1%, Romani 2.9%

Urbanites:  73.5%

Official Language:  Czech

Religion:  Non-religious 71.4%,  Christian 25.9%

Pray:

-Freedom for Czechs has too often translated into a “free-for-all.”  A generally successful shift to a market economy was a positive for the country, but it places economic stress on too many of the most vulnerable.  A moral vacuum has grown, exalting materialism instead.  Crime, sexual immorality, substance abuse, depression, and suicide are more prevalent today than in Communist times.  Pray for the existential and spiritual heaviness over the Czech Republic;  pray that serious soul-searching may take place and that a shift in the spiritual atmosphere might occur.

-New expressions of Christianity are springing up and connecting with the younger generation.  Dynamic church planting, paired with creative ministry (teaching English, business-as-mission), is seeing fruit.

-The Czech majority is against established denominations, but grassroots church-planting movements are seeing much greater openness to alternate forms of Christian structures.  Pray that churches can be creative in getting the gospel to the people of the Czech Republic.  Pray that non-religious people will call on the name of the LORD and be saved.  (Romans 10:13)

This is the website of our partner in the Czech Republic. God is doing much in this country, even though so many of the people are atheists.
