“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.  For it is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.”  1 Peter 2:13-15

Pray for Sudan and South Sudan

Religion: Muslim 61.38%, Christian 26.11%, Ethnoreligionist 11.1%

Pray:

- On July 9, 2011, Sudan split into the two separate countries of Sudan and South Sudan.  This change brings challenges for both countries.  Pray for South Sudan’s new political government to be used for God’s will and the good of its people.  Pray that South Sudanese will obey the authority that God has given their new leaders instead of continuing in civil unrest.  Pray for Sudan to continue developing despite losing its major econmic resource, oil.

- Praise the LORD! Despite the conflict that has plagued Sudan’s history, there has been a massive growth of Christianity, especially among central and southern peoples. Christians have been scattered and thus planted churches among peoples who were previously unreached.

- Pray for the people in and around the town of Pibor, South Sudan. Thousands are fleeing their homes because of inter-ethic clashes over cattle raiding. Ask Jesus to protect the people leaving their homes in fear, searching for a safe-haven.
