Mark Mittelberg recently wrote a book entitled “The Questions Christians Hope No One Will Ask.” Number three on this list is the question, “Why trust the Bible, a book based on myths and full of contradictions and mistakes?” The following quote from Mark’s book I think sums up the general impression that our friends and neighbors have towards the Bible: ”Often this distrust comes not from any particular concerns, but from general rumors that there are problems with the Bible that can’t be resolved.”
If this has been a block for you in your evangelism, or you’ve had a haunting doubt about the trustworthiness of Scripture in your own faith, then we’ve got a great talk for you on June 19th. Professor Ed Gravely from Southeastern Seminary specializes in textual criticism and teaches frequently on the doctrine of inerrancy. He’s an excellent communicator and he will not leave you with superficial answers about suspending your intellect when it comes to trusting Scripture.
The talk will be at the Summit Church Brier Creek Campus South Venue from 6-8pm this Sunday night 6/19. Bring your small group, bring your friends from the academic world, bring your questions, bring your kids (please RSVP for childcare here).
